The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Tips for Successful Photography in the Polar Regions Presented by: Chris Linder, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and the International League of Conservation Photographers Professional science photographer Chris Linder will share his tips on what works - and what doesn't -when photographing science in the Arctic and Antarctica.  A brief introduction on light and composition will be followed by a critique of photos submitted by APECS members. Submit your polar photos to be critiqued to webinars@apecs.is by 25 February 2012.

Photoshop et program for å redigere bilder (f.eks. digitale foto) som kan vise seg overveldende om du ikke er vant til den. Det er ingen grunn til å gi deg da fordi FutureLab arrangerer et gratis kurs i Photoshop særlig for deg som nybegynner. Som deltaker skal du lære teknikker og redskap for å sette deg i gang med bilderedigering.
Etter kurset blir det veiledning for å hjelpe deg å redigere dine egne bilder (siden “learning by doing” er best).

CO2 Lab - UNIS - The University Centre in Svalbard

"Dioxy" By Studio Kairòs

In early December 2011 a trailer for "The Arctic Adventures of Dioxy" was released, the movie was funded by The Svalbard Environmental Protection Fund and realized by Kairòs Studio. The movie previewed on 19th January, at the Svalbardseminaret 2012 and is now available online as a series of 9 episodes.

Februarseminaret: And the winners are...?

Congratulations!

Februarseminaret 2012 hadde forskningsformidling som tema. Hensikten var å skape refleksjon rundt forskningskommunikasjonens betydning og mulighetsrom.

Takk til alle som deltok og bidro på Februarseminaret. Vi gratulerer vinnerne av formidlingskonkurransen, og byr på et gjensyn med filmene: "Why" - vinner av førstepremien på kr. 15.000,-, (filmen kan dessverre ikke publiseres på nett) "Fra frykt til trygt" - vinner av andrepremien på kr. 10.000,- "Arctic Fever" - vinner av tredjepremien på kr. 5.000,- "The F Word" "Spawning Smart" "The Cold Rush"   "The Desperate Clam" "Playfood" "King Crab Line"

På Center for Kunst og Videnskab arbejder forskere, kunstnere og kommunikationsfolk sammen om at skabe inspirerende forskningskommunikation og nye kunstværker. Vi bruger virkemidler fra filmens, teatrets og billedkunstens verden og skaber oplevelser, der giver viden og indsigt. Centret er det eneste af sin art i Danmark.

Would be fantastic if we could develop a similar Centre for Art and Science in Tromsø! The Danish Centre for Art and Science at the University of Southern Denmark has originally developed the concept of "Forsker Grand Prix" which the Norwegian Research Council arranges under national Research Days..
